Description
Black Market AdreNOlyn Underground
Underground is Black Market's high-stimulant pre-workout, and the number on the front does not tell you what it feels like. 300mg of caffeine is a normal strong pre-workout. This one hits harder than that, and there is a specific reason.
Why 300mg feels like more than 300mg
Two things are happening, and the second one is the interesting one.
First, the stimulants come from several pathways rather than one. Alongside caffeine anhydrous you get dendrobium nobile extract at 10:1, eria jarensis, juniper berry and theobromine. Caffeine works largely by blocking adenosine receptors. The others act through different routes, so you are not simply stacking more of the same signal. The result is a broader stimulant experience than caffeine alone produces at the same dose.
Second, and this is the part almost nobody explains: naringenin at 25mg.
Naringenin is the flavonoid that gives grapefruit its bitterness, and it inhibits CYP1A2 — the liver enzyme responsible for metabolising caffeine. Slow that enzyme down and caffeine clears more slowly, so blood levels stay higher for longer from the same dose.
This is the same mechanism behind the grapefruit warning on prescription medication. Included deliberately in a pre-workout, it means 300mg of caffeine behaves like a larger dose and lasts longer. Your read that it feels stronger than the number suggests is exactly right, and this is why.
The practical consequence: the caffeine stays in your system longer than usual. Train late on this and it will affect your sleep more than a standard 300mg product would.
The focus stack
- Alpha-GPC 50%, 400mg — the most bioavailable choline source, crossing the blood-brain barrier to support acetylcholine production. 400mg is a serious dose; most pre-workouts include a fraction of that or use cheaper choline bitartrate alone
- N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine, 250mg — precursor to dopamine and noradrenaline, studied for cognitive performance under stress
- Choline Bitartrate, 200mg — a second choline source alongside the Alpha-GPC
Two choline sources plus tyrosine is a coherent focus stack, and the Alpha-GPC dose is what separates this from most high-stim products where focus is an afterthought.
The pump side, and an honest label criticism
The Pump and Performance Matrix contains citrulline malate 2:1, beta-alanine and L-taurine. Those are the right ingredients and the pump on this is genuinely good.
But their individual doses are not disclosed. They are listed as a combined complex, so you cannot tell how much citrulline malate you are getting.
That matters because citrulline is dose-dependent — 6 to 8 grams of citrulline malate is where the research sits, and a blend total tells you nothing about whether you are near it. The stimulant and focus ingredients on this label are individually disclosed, which makes the pump blend a conspicuous exception.
We are flagging it because you deserve to know. The pump is real and customers repurchase this for it. We just cannot show you the number, and we would rather say so than pretend the label is fully transparent.

How to take it
- Start with half a scoop. We mean this. The multi-pathway stimulant load plus the naringenin effect makes this stronger than the caffeine number implies, and a full scoop as a first exposure is a bad afternoon.
- One scoop in 10 to 12 ounces of cold water, 15 to 45 minutes before training.
- Never more than one scoop in 24 hours. That is the label instruction and it is there for a reason.
- No other caffeine that day. Not coffee, not an energy drink. The naringenin means what is already in you is clearing slowly.
- Not in the evening. Extended caffeine half-life plus a late session equals a bad night.
- Do not add another pump product until you know how much citrulline is already in here. Ask us in store and we will talk through it.
Who this is for
- Experienced stimulant users with real tolerance
- Lifters who train early or midday and want maximum intensity
- People who want focus rather than just energy, given the 400mg Alpha-GPC
- Anyone who has found standard 300mg pre-workouts underwhelming
Who this is not for
Not for beginners. This is not the pre-workout to learn your tolerance on. Start somewhere gentler and work up.
Not for tested athletes. Eria jarensis is on WADA's monitoring programme. If you compete in a tested federation, do not use this. There are certified options and we will point you at them.
Not for anyone caffeine sensitive, anyone training in the evening, or anyone with cardiovascular concerns. If you have a heart condition or take prescription medication, speak to your doctor first. The CYP1A2 interaction is relevant to more than caffeine.
Under 18, pregnant or nursing: no.
Stack it with: nothing stimulant-based. Creatine is fine.
Frequently asked questions
How much caffeine is in AdreNOlyn Underground?
300mg of caffeine anhydrous, plus dendrobium, eria jarensis, juniper berry and theobromine acting through other pathways.
Why does it feel stronger than 300mg?
Two reasons. The stimulants work through several pathways rather than one, and 25mg of naringenin inhibits CYP1A2, the enzyme that metabolises caffeine. Slower clearance means higher blood levels for longer from the same dose.
What is naringenin?
The flavonoid that makes grapefruit bitter. It inhibits CYP1A2 and is included here specifically to extend and amplify the caffeine.
Can I use it if I am a tested athlete?
No. Eria jarensis is on WADA's monitoring programme.
How much citrulline is in it?
Not disclosed. Citrulline malate, beta-alanine and taurine are listed as a combined complex rather than individually. The pump is good, but we cannot show you the number.
Can I take two scoops?
No. The label says one scoop in any 24-hour period.
Can I drink coffee with it?
You should not. The naringenin slows caffeine clearance, so anything else you drink stacks on top of a dose that is already lingering.
Is it good for focus?
Yes, and that is a genuine strength. 400mg of Alpha-GPC is a real dose, alongside tyrosine and a second choline source.
I'm an avid non-stim preworkout user but I took this for a morning workout and I couldn't believe the energy and focus. No crash afterwards and the peach rings flavor was on point.
