Description
NutraBio Mega Beets
5 grams of organic beet root powder plus 1.1g of patented NO3-T betaine nitrate, stimulant-free. 30 servings.
Why the added nitrate matters more than the beet root
This is the difference between Mega Beets and the many plain beet powders on the market, and it is a real one.
Beetroot works because of its nitrate content — not because of the beet itself. But nitrate levels in beetroot vary enormously depending on soil, growing conditions, harvest and processing. Two tubs of plain beet powder can differ several-fold in the thing that actually does the work, and most are not standardised for nitrate at all.
NO3-T is a nitrate-bonded ingredient with a known, consistent nitrate content. Adding it means every scoop delivers a predictable dose rather than whatever that batch of beets happened to contain.
And the form is clever: NO3-T here is betaine nitrate, so one molecule delivers two useful things — nitrate, plus betaine, which has its own research behind strength and power output.
⚠ Skip antibacterial mouthwash on the days you take this
This is the single most important thing on this page, and almost nobody knows it.
The nitrate pathway has a first step your own cells cannot perform. Converting nitrate to nitrite is done by bacteria living on the back of your tongue. Only after that can your body reduce nitrite to nitric oxide.
Antibacterial mouthwash kills those bacteria, and studies on dietary nitrate show this substantially blunts the effect — in some cases eliminating it entirely.
So if you are paying for a standardised nitrate ingredient, do not use antibacterial mouthwash before training. Rinse with water instead. It is the easiest way to waste a supplement completely.
Nitrate is a genuinely separate pathway from citrulline
Worth understanding if you already take a pump product:
| Citrulline | Converts to arginine, which the enzyme nitric oxide synthase uses to make nitric oxide |
| Nitrate | Reduced to nitrite, then to nitric oxide — bypassing that enzyme entirely |
These are additive, not duplicative. Which is why Mega Beets stacks sensibly with citrulline or any pre-workout, rather than competing with it.
The nitrate route also has the stronger endurance evidence. Dietary nitrate research consistently shows improved exercise efficiency — meaning lower oxygen cost for the same work output — which is a genuinely unusual finding in sports nutrition.
Not just a training supplement
This is one of the few products on our shelf with a legitimate everyday case beyond the gym.
Nitric oxide is central to circulation and vascular function, and nitric oxide production declines with age. Dietary nitrate has been studied in relation to blood flow and cardiovascular health in general populations, not only athletes.
NutraBio position it as a daily wellness product, and that is a fair framing — it is stimulant-free, so it can be taken at any time of day, on any day.
⚠ Speak to your doctor before use if you take blood pressure medication or nitrate-based heart medication. Nitric oxide affects vasodilation, and that interaction is real rather than theoretical.

Note: some listings quote 6g of beet root rather than 5g plus nitrate — that reflects an earlier version. Check your tub if the distinction matters to you.
How to take it
- One scoop in 6 to 8oz of water, once daily.
- About 60 to 90 minutes before training if you want the performance effect — the nitrate pathway takes considerably longer to peak than citrulline does.
- Any time of day otherwise. No stimulants.
- Skip antibacterial mouthwash. See above.
- Take it consistently. Nitrate research generally uses several days of loading rather than single doses.
- Do not be alarmed by beeturia — beetroot can turn urine and stools pink or red. Entirely harmless.
Who this is for
- Endurance athletes — the exercise efficiency research is the strongest evidence in this category
- Anyone who wants a nitric oxide pathway their pre-workout does not already cover
- People taking this for circulation and cardiovascular wellness rather than training
- Anyone who wants a standardised nitrate dose rather than a variable beet powder
- People who cannot take stimulants
Who this is not for
Anyone on blood pressure or nitrate heart medication, without speaking to a doctor first.
If you want energy, there is no stimulant here.
If your pre-workout already contains a nitrate source, check before doubling up.
If you use antibacterial mouthwash daily and will not stop, this will not work properly.
Not for anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing. Discontinue two weeks before surgery.
Stack it with: citrulline — different pathway, genuinely additive.
Frequently asked questions
Why add nitrate to beet root?
Because nitrate content in beetroot varies enormously with soil and processing, and most plain beet powders are not standardised for it. NO3-T delivers a consistent, known dose every scoop.
Why does mouthwash matter?
Bacteria on your tongue perform the first conversion of nitrate to nitrite — your own cells cannot. Antibacterial mouthwash kills them and substantially blunts the effect.
How is nitrate different from citrulline?
Citrulline supplies arginine for the enzyme that makes nitric oxide. Nitrate produces nitric oxide by a route that bypasses that enzyme entirely. They are additive.
When should I take it?
60 to 90 minutes before training for performance — the nitrate pathway peaks slowly. Any time otherwise.
Why has my urine turned pink?
Beeturia. It is caused by beetroot pigments and is entirely harmless.
Can I take it every day?
Yes, and you should — nitrate research generally involves consecutive days rather than single doses.
Is it safe with blood pressure medication?
Speak to your doctor. Nitric oxide affects vasodilation and the interaction is genuine.
What is betaine nitrate?
Betaine bonded to nitrate, so one molecule supplies both — nitrate for nitric oxide, and betaine, which has its own research behind strength and power.
