NutraBio Intra Blast — 10g Full-Spectrum EAAs, 5g Glutamine, 2g Betaine

26 reviews
NutraBio Intra BlastMost intra-workout products are branched chain amino acids and a flavour system. Intra Blast is a different scale of product: over 10 grams of all nine essential amino acids, plus glutamine, betaine, ornithine and a full electrolyte matrix — sixteen ingredients, every one disclosed.Your note calls it the best recovery amino on the market and we would not argue. Why EAAs rather than BCAAs, which is the whole pointThis is the most important thing to understand about amino acid supplements, and the industry spent fifteen years getting it wrong. There are nine essential amino acids — the ones your body cannot make and must obtain from food. Three of them are the BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine and valine.Building muscle protein requires all nine. Every single one. Missing any of them stops the process, in the same way a construction site stops when one material runs out regardless of how much of everything else is on hand.A BCAA product supplies three of nine. Leucine will trigger the signal to start building — but if the other six are not available, the signal has nothing to work with. This is why the evidence for BCAAs alone turned out to be far weaker than a decade of marketing suggested, and why the category has largely moved to EAAs.Intra Blast contains over 10,000mg of all nine EAAs, including 7,200mg of BCAAs in the researched 2:1:1 leucine to isoleucine to valine ratio, plus 2,805mg of the other six essential aminos. That is the difference between a signal and a signal with materials attached. What else is in a scoop Glutamine, 5,000mg — most intra-workout products that include glutamine use 1,000 to 2,000mg. This is a substantially larger dose. Glutamine is the primary fuel for the cells lining your intestine and is depleted by hard training Betaine anhydrous, 2,000mg — studied for strength, power output and training volume. The commonly cited clinical dose is 2,500mg, so 2g is close. Seeing betaine in an intra-workout at all is unusual; it normally appears in pre-workouts L-Ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate, 1,000mg — included in relation to ammonia clearance. Ammonia accumulates during intense exercise and contributes to the sensation of fatigue Electrolyte and hydration matrix, 2,822mg — a real dose rather than a token pinch of sodium. This is what your note means by hydrationFull label disclosure, including the sweetenersNutraBio discloses every ingredient at its individual dose. No proprietary blends, no fillers, no excipients. They go further than most: NutraBio publishes the exact amounts of its flavouring and sweetener system too, which almost no brand does. Combined with the batch-level lab results you can pull by lot number at CheckMySupps — the same system covered on the Whey Isolate page — this is about as transparent as a supplement label gets.Specs Total EAAsOver 10,000mg, all nine BCAAs7,200mg, 2:1:1 ratio Other six EAAs2,805mg Glutamine5,000mg Betaine anhydrous2,000mg L-Ornithine AKG1,000mg Electrolyte matrix2,822mg Disclosed ingredients16 Proprietary blendsNoneA non-artificial version exists, sweetened with raw cane sugar and stevia, if you avoid artificial sweeteners. One honest note on the labelA few of the secondary amino acids sit at modest doses — tryptophan at 55mg, for instance, is well below anything you would expect an effect from in isolation. That is not really a criticism, because their purpose is completeness rather than individual effect. The point of a full EAA profile is that all nine are present so protein synthesis is not limited by a missing one. But if you are reading the panel and wondering why some numbers are small, that is why.How to use it Sip it through your session. That is the intra-workout use, and the electrolytes are as much of the reason as the aminos. Plenty of water. It is designed to be a drink you work through, not a shot. More water makes it last the session. It foams. Amino acid powders do — the aminos act as surfactants. Let it settle for a minute after shaking, or stir rather than shake. Also works on rest days, particularly if you are in a deficit or fasting, since the EAAs and glutamine are useful whenever protein intake is low. Not a replacement for protein. Aminos supplement your intake, they do not substitute for food.Who this is for Anyone training long or hard sessions where fatigue and hydration both matter People training fasted or early, where circulating aminos are genuinely useful Anyone in a deficit, where protecting muscle matters more People who sweat heavily and need electrolytes rather than a token amount Anyone who has been buying BCAAs and did not know EAAs supersede them Label readers — this is one of the most disclosed products on our shelfWho this is not forIf you eat plenty of protein and train for 45 minutes, you probably do not need an intra-workout. Amino acids from a recent meal are still circulating. This matters most when training fasted, training long, or dieting hard, and honestly less than the marketing in this category suggests. If you already take a separate glutamine, note the 5g here before adding more.If you want a simple electrolyte drink, this is a lot of product for that job. There are cheaper ways to replace sodium and potassium. If you are choosing between this and a protein powder, buy the protein. Whole protein covers the amino acids and more.Stack it with: a carbohydrate if you train long or hard — this covers aminos and hydration but supplies no fuel.Frequently asked questionsWhat is the difference between EAAs and BCAAs?BCAAs are three of the nine essential amino acids. Building muscle protein requires all nine, so a BCAA product supplies the trigger without the materials. Intra Blast contains all nine at over 10 grams total, including 7.2g of BCAAs.How much glutamine is in it?5,000mg, against the 1,000 to 2,000mg typical of intra-workouts that include it at all.Why is betaine in an intra-workout?It is unusual — betaine normally appears in pre-workouts. It is studied for strength, power and training volume, and 2,000mg is close to the commonly cited 2,500mg clinical dose. Why does it foam so much?Amino acids act as surfactants, so amino powders foam. Stir rather than shake, or let it settle a minute. It is normal and not a formulation fault. Can I take it on rest days?Yes, particularly if you are dieting or fasting. The EAAs and glutamine are useful whenever protein intake is low.Do I need an intra-workout?Less often than the category suggests. If you eat well and train for 45 minutes, aminos from your last meal are still circulating. It earns its place for fasted training, long sessions and hard dieting. Is the label fully disclosed?Completely, including the flavouring and sweetener amounts, which almost no brand discloses. Is there a version without artificial sweeteners?Yes. The non-artificial version uses raw cane sugar and stevia. Read more

Got the dragonfruit candy flavor. Tastes incredible. Best tasting aminos I've ever had. Started doing IF so had to switch from whey to aminos for calorie purposes. Mixes pretty well, the last sip is a little foamy and there are a few crystals at the bottom of my shaker but its no big deal. Definitely will continue using.

Love the flavor. Wish it dissolved easier.

Overall, I'm very pleased. The Sweat Tea flavor is great and I enjoy drinking it. The only downside is that it takes some vigorous shaking to get all of the product dissolved. The Xtend dissolves easier. This and the Pink Lemonade Xtend are my favorites.
