What makes clear whey clear
Ordinary whey isolate is opaque because of how the protein scatters light. Clear whey uses a specially processed isolate, usually hydrolysed to some degree, that stays in clear solution and does not thicken. That processing is why it generally costs more than a standard isolate.

Expect foaming. Whey foams when shaken and clear whey shows it more, since you can see through the liquid. Let it settle for a minute after mixing and it clears.
One honest note on price. Clear whey generally costs more than a standard isolate because the processing is more involved. You are paying for the format rather than better protein. If you drink your shakes happily as they are, a standard isolate is better value.
