Description
I Prevail Rogue X
6 grams of pure L-citrulline, 2.5g betaine, 2g tyrosine, a multi-phase caffeine system yielding 285mg, and 1 gram of NitroRocket — a nitrate source most people have never encountered.
NitroRocket is arugula, and that is more interesting than it sounds
This is the standout ingredient and it works through a mechanism entirely separate from the citrulline.
NitroRocket is a concentrated extract of arugula — rocket, the salad leaf — standardised for nitrate content.
Here is the part that surprises people: arugula is one of the highest-nitrate vegetables there is, and typically contains more nitrate than beetroot. Beetroot gets the attention because beetroot juice was the vehicle used in the original sports nutrition research, not because it is the richest source.
Why a nitrate source matters alongside citrulline:
- Citrulline converts to arginine, which the enzyme nitric oxide synthase uses to produce nitric oxide
- Nitrate is reduced to nitrite, and nitrite to nitric oxide — bypassing that enzyme entirely
Two genuinely separate routes to the same outcome. That is a more sophisticated design than simply adding more citrulline, and it is the same principle behind the arginine nitrate in GHOST Pump.
⚠ Skip antibacterial mouthwash on training days
Because Rogue X contains nitrates, this applies — and almost nobody knows it.
The first step of the nitrate pathway is not performed by your own cells. Converting nitrate to nitrite is done by bacteria living on the back of your tongue.
Antibacterial mouthwash kills them, and studies on dietary nitrate show this substantially blunts the effect — the first conversion step simply does not happen.
So if you are paying for a gram of NitroRocket, do not use antibacterial mouthwash before training. It is the easiest way to waste an ingredient. Same caveat as our Opti-Reds and NovaPump Neuro pages.
285mg "after the yields" — why that phrasing matters
This is a genuinely honest piece of labelling and it is worth understanding.
Many pre-workouts contain caffeine from several sources, and not all of those sources are 100% caffeine by weight. Di-caffeine malate is roughly 75% caffeine; some extended-release forms run 60% or lower.
A brand can therefore quote a large number that is the weight of caffeine ingredients rather than the weight of actual caffeine. I-Prevail's caffeine system totals around 350mg of ingredients, but delivers 285mg of actual caffeine — and they say so.
That is the number that matters, and stating it plainly is better practice than most of the category. 285mg is a solid, strong dose — around 70% of the 400mg daily figure the FDA cites — without being extreme.
The multi-phase structure is designed to give fast onset with a longer tail rather than a spike and a drop.
The focus stack
- L-Tyrosine, 2,000mg — a notably large dose. Tyrosine is the precursor to dopamine and noradrenaline, and the research centres specifically on maintaining cognitive performance under stress and sleep deprivation. You will notice this most after a poor night's sleep
- Alpha-GPC, 300mg — a bioavailable choline source supplying raw material for acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter behind attention and muscle contraction. Check whether your tub states a standardisation percentage — if it is 50%, actual alpha-GPC is around 150mg
- Huperzine A, ~100mcg — slows acetylcholine breakdown, so it pairs logically with alpha-GPC rather than duplicating it. One supplies raw material, the other slows clearance. Consider cycling it rather than taking it continuously
The performance side
- L-Citrulline, 6,000mg — pure, not malate. Squarely in the 6 to 8g researched range. A product listing 6g of citrulline malate would deliver only around 4g
- Beta-Alanine — expect tingling. That is paraesthesia, harmless, and not an indicator the product is working. Carnosine builds over two to four weeks
- Betaine Anhydrous, 2,500mg — the exact clinical dose, associated with strength and power output
- S7, 50mg — upregulates endothelial nitric oxide synthase, so your body produces more of its own NO. A third distinct nitric oxide mechanism alongside citrulline and nitrate. The commonly quoted "230% increase" figure comes from supplier-funded research on a small sample — the mechanism is plausible, the headline percentage deserves caution
- Pink Himalayan Salt — sodium for fluid balance and muscular contraction
Three nitric oxide mechanisms in one formula
| L-Citrulline, 6g | Supplies arginine as substrate for nitric oxide synthase |
| NitroRocket, 1g | Nitrate pathway — bypasses that enzyme entirely |
| S7, 50mg | Upregulates the enzyme itself |
Substrate, alternative pathway, and enzyme upregulation. That is three genuinely different approaches rather than three versions of the same one — and it is a better-designed pump side than the citrulline number alone suggests.

| NitroRocket (arugula extract) | 1,000mg |
| Total caffeine | 285mg, after yields (~350mg of caffeine ingredients) |
| Alpha-GPC | 300mg |
| S7 | 50mg |
| Huperzine A | ~100mcg (from 10mg of 1% extract) |
| Also contains | Beta-alanine, pink Himalayan salt |
Where it sits in our range
| DEFY | 450mg caffeine | Six stimulants, 10g citrulline |
| Fresh Pre | 360mg | Caffeine only, no exotic stimulants |
| Rogue X | 285mg after yields | Three NO mechanisms. Heavy on focus |
| MVPre 365 | 250mg | 10g citrulline, daily driver |
| Bucked Up | 200mg | Where to start |
Rogue X sits in a sensible middle — strong enough to feel, moderate enough to use regularly, with a genuinely well-constructed nitric oxide side and an unusually large tyrosine dose.
How to take it
- Start with half a scoop in 8 to 12oz of water to assess tolerance.
- One scoop, 20 to 30 minutes before training.
- Skip antibacterial mouthwash on training days. See above.
- Count your other caffeine. 285mg is around 70% of the daily figure.
- Not in the evening — the multi-phase system extends the tail.
- Take creatine separately.
Who this is for
- Anyone who wants a well-constructed pump side rather than just a big citrulline number
- People training after a long working day — 2g of tyrosine is a substantial cognitive dose
- Anyone wanting strong energy without an extreme stimulant load
- People who want honest labelling — the "after yields" figure is better practice than most
- Anyone already using I Prevail Amino Impact who wants to stay within the brand
Who this is not for
If you want maximum stimulation, 285mg is moderate by current standards. DEFY or RULE deliver considerably more.
If you want maximum citrulline, MVPre 365 and NITR-OX carry 10g.
Beginners at a full scoop, and anyone caffeine sensitive.
Anyone with a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure or an anxiety disorder.
Tested athletes should check the current label — no banned-substance certification is listed.
Not for anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing.
Stack it with: creatine. No additional pump product needed — three nitric oxide mechanisms is already comprehensive.
Frequently asked questions
What is NitroRocket?
A concentrated arugula (rocket) extract standardised for nitrates. Arugula is one of the highest-nitrate vegetables and typically contains more than beetroot — beetroot simply got the research attention first.
Why does mouthwash matter?
The first step of the nitrate pathway is performed by bacteria on your tongue, which convert nitrate to nitrite. Antibacterial mouthwash kills them and substantially blunts the effect.
What does "after the yields" mean?
Not all caffeine sources are 100% caffeine by weight — di-caffeine malate is around 75%, and some extended-release forms are lower. The caffeine system totals roughly 350mg of ingredients but delivers 285mg of actual caffeine. Quoting the yielded figure is the honest way to state it.
How much caffeine is in it?
285mg of actual caffeine — around 70% of the 400mg daily figure cited for healthy adults.
How many nitric oxide mechanisms does it use?
Three. Citrulline supplies substrate, NitroRocket uses the nitrate pathway that bypasses the enzyme, and S7 upregulates the enzyme itself.
How much huperzine A is really in it?
Around 100 micrograms, from 10mg of extract standardised to 1%. Listings quoting "10mg of huperzine A" are describing the extract weight, not the active.
Why is the tyrosine dose so high?
2,000mg is substantial. Tyrosine is a precursor to dopamine and noradrenaline, and the research focuses on maintaining cognitive performance under stress and sleep deprivation.
Does it contain creatine?
No. Take creatine separately and daily.
I wanted to lose this product so much but it wound up being un drinkable. It had a very salty taste and didn't like how itade.me feel. Going to try Bamf next and i love this store and it's awesome selection.
